Chicago Cubs Splurge

Alfonso Soriano

Alfonso Soriano is now a Chicago Cub and also one of the richest players in Major League Baseball. The Cubs gave Soriano the fifth largest contract in MLB history at $136 million for eight years. I generally start getting dizzy at the thought of someone getting paid that much money to play a sport, but this time it didn’t happen. I actually felt like the clouds parted and the sun shined down on Wrigley Field and all Cubs fans. Chicago needs help in a big way and Soriano is one of the most solid offensive weapons in the League. I have personally been a Cub fan since childhood and other than a shooting star year here and there they pretty much have stunk. Alfonso is one huge step in the right direction along with the recent re-signings of Aramis Ramirez and Kerry Wood. In this world of high paid players not many are worth this type of cash, but I have to admit Soriano is a player who truly is top notch.

SportsUnderground.com’s Dumb A$$ of the Week Award

OJ Simpson

This week the award goes to OJ Simpson. OJ decided to write a book called “If I Did It” that would detail how he would have killed his wife. The ironic thing is we all know he did it anyway and only got off because Johnny Cochran is one of the most sleezy lawyers ever. At least there is some good in this world because they are now canceling the book and the TV interview.

Godspeed Bo Schembechler

Bo SchembechlerBo Schembechler was one of the greatest college football coaches ever and today the unfortunate news comes that he has passed away. Schembechler was by far at the top of his game along with Tom Osborne(Nebraska,) Joe Paterno (Penn State), and Bobby Bowden (Florida State) when I was growing up. I wish the best to his family during this trying time and you will be missed Bo!

Breaking News: Bo Schembechler

Thursday Night Thoughts

Just a few notes and observations as I flip back and forth from game to game

  1. LaMarcus Aldridge may be a great kid. He may be a great basketball player someday. But please, PLEASE, don’t talk. If you heard the call in during the Texas – Mich. State game, you know what I mean
  2. Houston Rockets big men, specifically Yao “Pick an’ Ro'” Ming and Dikembe, don’t bring the ball down. Don’t try to dribble, or anything that brings the ball below your shoulders. Good lord!
  3. Speaking of the Houston Rockets….if they were to look up ONE word in the dictionary, FINISH ought to be it. If you can’t find it, I’ll even do the leg work for you.
    • Finish : to defeat or ruin utterly and finally. To DEFEAT. FINALLY.
  4. Is Doug Collins talking through a block of cheese at the end of his mic? Several games this year and he sounds like he is talking into a pillow. Can someone from TNT please fix this?

ok, I think that’s it…carry on
