NCAA Top 10 at a Glance

Monkey thinking

1) Oklahoma – The absolute real deal. Sam Bradford and the Oklahoma offense is averaging 49.6 points a game and the Sooner D is holding opponents to just over 13 points a game. This weekend Oklahoma plays a colossal matchup against #5 Texas in the Red River Shootout that will be tight early, but the Sooners win out in the end.

2) Alabama – The Tide have big wins over Clemson and #10 Georgia, but I’m not sold on this team just yet. While their schedule is actually pretty light for a SEC team I just have a hunch they lose one game if not two before the season is done. At LSU, at Tennessee and rival Auburn at home at the end of the year seem to be the most likely slip ups.

3) Missouri – The Tigers are averaging over 53 points a game with Chase Daniel leading the way for their potent offense. I really like Mizzou to make the Big 12 title game again this year and possibly playing in the BCS title game.

4) LSU – Love their defense, but I seriously question the quarterback position. Freshman Jarrett Lee or junior Andrew Hatch have little experience and I think that will exposed this weekend in the Swamp against Florida.

5) Texas – Colt McCoy is really good and overall Texas is much better than I thought they would be this season, but the Longhorns go down this weekend at the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma.

6) Penn St. – I think Paterno and gang have a really good chance at the BCS title game this year. They go to Wisconsin this weekend and then at Ohio State later in the month so we will find out this month what type of team the Nittany Lions really are.

7) Texas Tech – Really? I know they have a dynamic offense, but a top 7 team? I don’t see the Red Raiders winning at Oklahoma or at Texas so don’t expect this team to be in the top 10 when it’s all said and done.

8) BYU – I like the Cougars A LOT. They lead the nation with a 15 game winning streak and could make a BCS game this year. The problem is going to revolve around whether they can win at TCU, at Air Force and at Utah.

9) USC – Very solid team in a VERY weak conference, but I’m still not sold on whether they can win out the season after their loss to Oregon State a couple of weeks ago.

10) Georgia – Down 31-0 at home last week against Alabama is inexcusable to say the least. The Dawgs still have matchups against Vandy, Florida and two away games against LSU and Auburn so in the end this will be a disappointing season. Georgia was very overrated at the beginning of the year and will have three losses or more by season’s end.
