Troy Polamalu’s Hair Insured

Have you ever wondered how much Troy Polamalu’s hair is worth? I personally haven’t, but I have pontificated on how long it might take for him to wash and dry the over-sized French poodle that resides on his head. If you have actually speculated whether Troy’s locks were worth some scratch you don’t need to question anymore. Head and Shoulders has taken out a $1 million insurance policy from Lloyd’s of London for Polamalu’s hair. In reality Troy’s hair is actually worth more than a million because he has probably been paid quite well for his role in all of the Head and Shoulders commercials we are hearing/seeing these days.

While you might think the insurance policy is over the top this type of things happens all the time. Tom Jones chest hair is insured for $7 million, Heidi Klum’s legs $2.2 million, and Jennifer Lopez’s caboose is insured for an astounding $27 million.

Eastern Washington’s New Red Turf

The Eastern Washington football team had their first football practice this past Friday on their new red Sprinturf field. Woodward field will be renamed Roos Field at a ceremony on Septemer 16th and then the first home game on the red turf will be played September 18th agasinst Montana. The new name is in recognition of former Eagle and current Titan Michael Roos and his wife Katherine for their $500,000 contribution to the project. The Smurf Turf has been a great gimmick for Boise State and the red turf should do the trick for Eastern Washington. Don’t stare too long at the new turf though because you will start to feel like your eyes are bleeding.

Congrats Caroline

Caroline Wozniacki defeated Nadia Petrova 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 yesterday in the Pilot Pen Tennis finals in New Haven, Connecticut. Wozniacki won her fourth title of the year and has won three out of the last four tournaments on the tour. She is definitely one of the favorites to win the 2010 US Open that gets underway tomorrow.

While that is exciting stuff we actually think pictures of Caroline are a lot more interesting. Enjoy!

Vincent Jackson Needs to Get a Grip

Vincent Jackson has made it quite clear that if he doesn’t get a new 5-year $50 million contract he will sit out the entire year. It’s kind of sad that this Chargers receiver has turned into a diva so quickly. While Jackson did have his best season ever last year he only caught a grand total of 68 passes which was 22nd best in the NFL last year. San Diego’s brass has decided to not be held hostage by renegotiating requests from players in the middle of a contract and I commend them for this move. Recently the Chargers granted Jackson permission to talk with the Seahawks, but nothing concrete has come out of those discussions. Chargers management isn’t going to budge so unless Jackson changes his tune he might be watching football on the tube this year.

How good is Green Bay?

Are you kidding me? I watched their preseason NFL game last night against the Colts which by no surprise was in front of a sold out crowd at Lambeau Field. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers dropped 59 Points on Indy and looked stellar.

Is this something we can look forward to in all the NFL games this year? Has this turned into a 7-on-7 game?

Yes I know it is freaking preseason, but the game between Indy and Green Bay was a joy to watch. If you didn’t watch the shootout then I can only guess you were watching Snookie get arrested? I mean football is almost here and the third week is when you really get to see the starters play for at least a half so make sure you enjoy the rest of the games this weekend.

What a great time of year! Fantasy drafts are taking place, NCAA football is less than a week away and the NFL regular season is just two weeks ago.

This is why we endure the 100% humidity through the summer in order to reach the fall and football baby!
